Automatic braking systems are a bad idea. I haul livestock for a living and anything that moves in your trailer be it animals, liquids, swinging meat, etc., and I would bet that flatbed haulers may even experience load shift from this. It puts you at a real risk of a rollover accident from shifting weight. This is just another way of taking the judgement and skill of the driver away. I have driven cars with automatic breaking systems and I nearly had an accident from the vehicle braking suddenly. I have talked to other livestock haulers that have had these automatic braking systems on their trucks and if the truck thinks you are going to fast in a curve, the truck applies the brakes. This is dangerous for not only is but the animals we haul! This is something that we were taught should not be done because it increases the chances of a roll over accident. This causes weight shift and can cause livestock to be injured. People who haul these types of loads have the skills to haul these loads properly. Let us use these skills! Instead of more regulations on drivers, better training of people who are getting a new license to drive an automobile and refresher courses for others should be a regulation.
