Summary: The commenter expresses support for the regulatory oversight of the timber industry's impact on Marbled Murrelets. They argue that the relationship between logging and bird displacement is well-understood and that agencies should prioritize conservation over industry interests.
Respectfully, this Marbled Murrelet bulls&it was going on when I lived in Arcata during the 70s. What's the big mystery here? The birds nest in trees. The loggers cut the trees and the birds are displaced or killed. The timber industry says "Pretty please" over and over again and every regulatory agency folds like a K-Mart lawn chair. It's called the Fish and Wildlife Service. There's no hidden mystery here. They're not mandated to play nice with the loggers. Thanks for trying to do the right thing.
