Summary: A Humboldt County resident and Environmental Science student opposes the proposed habitat conservation plan. They argue that the company is being dishonest about its environmental commitments by seeking to destroy critical Marbled Murrelet habitat.
I am a Humboldt County resident and I do not condone this proposal. Having personally visited Green Diamond property, they sell themselves as a “greener” industry by showing interest in the marten and Northern Spotted Owl. It is disgraceful that they continue to pledge Environmental rehabilitation on their property when they are actively seeking access to destroy critical Marbled Murrelet habitat. As an Environmental Science major I was recently tasked with learning about this incredible bird and am horrified to learn that people are still trying to harm it. Timber is dead. That doesn’t mean you have to kill the birds too.
