Summary: The commenter opposes any revisions to FWS Part 610 that would weaken protections for wilderness areas. They argue that the Fish and Wildlife Service has not justified reversing long-standing protections and urge the agency to preserve existing standards.
I oppose any revision to FWS Part 610: “Part 610 of the Fish and Wildlife Service Manual, Wilderness Stewardship” that will weaken protection for wilderness areas, areas with wilderness characteristics, or land that has been recommended, proposed, or eligible for wilderness designation. Please preserve the existing standards in full. The Fish and Wildlife Service has not justified reversing decades of long-standing protections. Making these changes without a documented justification and against the clear will of public opinion is wrong. Once you change the nature of wilderness areas, they aren't wild any more. Keep these wilderness areas wild, for the benefit of all Americans.
