A computer can never be held accountable//therefore a computer must never make a management decision. (attributed to IBM, 1979) Like a dog, Artificial Intelligence systems are influenced by whoever trains them. Like a tool, it holds no malice except whatever whoever happens to be holding it wishes to use it for. Like a parasite, the growth and maintenance of even one system sucks away land, energy, and water from our people. And unlike a human, an AI system cannot be held accountable for the deception, lies, manipulations, and discrimination that it engenders because it is a computer. What we are dealing with is not intelligence, it is rote memorization and algorithmic regurgitation on a scale never before seen; it is intent on weaning us off of our own thoughts and opinions, making us less of ourselves in order to enrich its own intelligence. And of course, by “it” I refer to the forces controlling and creating these AI systems, and not the technology itself. This is not The Matrix; the robots are not coming to get us. This is the real world, and as it has always been, man turns against man intent on subjugating the other for his own uses. If we cannot regulate the man who uses a machine to take an unfair portion of the land, who uses falsehoods to cloud the minds of his neighbors, who seems intent on taking our own thoughts from us to feed into his contraption, then we should not regulate anything but let every man do as he pleases. It is my opinion that Artifical Intelligence should be suppressed until and not limited to: legal infrastructure is implemented to hold any AI users criminally accountable for the acts committed by their system of choice, the right to use any website or device without ever utilizing AI to be free and guaranteed, resource usage by data centers is heavily regulated in the interest of local communities, and prevention of the non consensual, unethical scraping of human works for further AI optimization.
