Summary: An individual is requesting that the FTA withdraw the proposed policy statement regarding drug and alcohol testing for transportation network companies. They argue that the proposed requirements would hinder mobility for the elderly and disabled and create additional burdens for caregivers.
I ask the FTA to withdraw the Notice of Proposed Policy Statement Regarding the Applicability of FTA's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program to Transportation Network Companies (Notice of Proposed Policy Statement) published in the Federal Register on December 30, 2024, at 89 FR 106732.
This proposed amendment would take away the ability of disabled and elderly people to access same-day, timely transit and further burden caregivers who look to transportation network companies to lighten their loads. It makes no sense to make things harder for people to move from place to place.
