Summary: The commenter argues that DACA recipients who meet all licensing requirements should not be denied commercial driver's licenses. They contend that the denial of these licenses unfairly restricts employment opportunities for DACA recipients who have already undergone rigorous vetting.
If a DACA recipient has been living and learning in the United States since childhood and has passed all of the stringent requirements for a commercial drivers license, there is no logical explanation for denying them the ability to hold one. Approval of DACA status or renewal involves vetting that no US citizen goes through. Any legal trouble, including a DUI or other criminal traffic violations, would violate DACA renewal requirements. Therefore, the only explanation for why our government is removing access to commercial drivers licenses for DACA recipients is to deny them access to employment. I support an exemption for all DACA recipients.
