Summary: The commenter supports the proposed CDL exemption for DACA recipients with valid work authorization. They argue that because these individuals have undergone federal screening and have U.S.-based records, the FMCSA's concerns regarding unverifiable foreign records are not applicable.
I support the proposed exemption allowing DACA recipients with valid work authorization to obtain a CDL. The adults that entered illegally/undocumented (and now on DACA) have already undergone extensive federal screening, and their driving and background records are entirely U.S.-based. The FMCSA’s concerns about unverifiable foreign records do not apply to them. This exemption would maintain safety standards while helping address shortages of qualified drivers for public transit and school transportation.
