Commercial Driver's Licenses should be restricted to US Citizens and lawful green card holders. DACA recipients are neither. The applicant is to be commended for her diligence and her accomplishments. Unfortunately, her parents broke the laws of the United States by coming here and bringing her here in flagrant violation of our laws.. She is not a legal US citizen nor authorized Green Card holder. She could have left the US and then applied for citizenship as other non-citizens do. She chose not to pursue this course of action. Therefore no exemption should be authorized. A person who unknowingly purchases stolen goods is not authorized to keep the goods - no matter how long they have kept them. This same principle is, unfortunately, applicable to this situation - with one exception. The exception is that the applicant knows she came unlawfully and has chosen not to return to her country of origin. That she is allowed to remain in the US is a sufficiently significant benefit. Granting this "limited" exemption to drive a school bus simply opens the door to the argument that they should be granted full CDL licenses. The applicant has already received over $120,000 of free educational benefits (by attending schools). Continuing to expand benefits and opportunities to those who choose forgo the proper pathway to citizenship and to green card holder status simply encourages more of the same snubbing of our laws that do not further the applicants desires. I respectfully request that this and all similar exemption applications be denied.
