Hello I am sending this in hopes you will consider giving DACA commercial drivers the opportunity to renew their CDL‘s. I own a small trucking company in Elma Washington and have a dreamer that works for us. He has been a godsend. He took a CDL in English understands English and it’s been a highlight in our company in fact, he helped save our company from going under. We are small business with only three trucks. And all my years of driving this young man who has been here 32 years of his life cares about safety cares about his job three years and without question continues to do his pre-trips keeping the truck clean his safety record is impeccable. It is with great hope that you will please consider allowing DACA recipients to Keep their CDL. I want you to know as well that through many conversations with the young man that I have we all agree that no one who cannot speak or understand English should have a CDL and driving commercial vehicles down the road, there is no argument there, but this young man took his test in English understand speaks English better than myself. DACA also has background checks every two years so they are not the same as those who recently came in and was issued CDL’s. it is with great hope that you will. Please allow my small business to continue and for this young man to stay on course to one day become a US citizen as a US citizen it would be an honor to stand side-by-side with him one day and see that happen as I believe for all Americans they would feel the same.
