Summary: The commenter supports Tirza Eden's petition by endorsing a statement from the Wild Horse Fire Brigade. They argue that wild horses should be managed as ecological assets for wildfire mitigation rather than being treated as liabilities that require costly roundups and federal management.
Hello. I am going to use the word of people that are knowledgeable about this issue. My personal feelings ... we should leave management of the herds to the people that understand their function in the eco system. What is happening now is inhumale with roundups that separate families. moms and foals. Just not right to do this to our equines. So I defer to this statement. Not my writing but I support the content. Thank you for your consideration to Tirza's requests. "Wild Horse Fire Brigade (WHFB). WHFB stands strongly against EPA pesticide use on our wild equines, and has devised the only proven rewilding plan that aligns with Velma Bronn Johnston’s vision and intent for her Wild Free Roaming Horses And Burros Act. It’s the one solution that delivers justice for our wild horses by taking them from the costly liability that BLM presents them as ($150M annual WHB Budget) to the ecological assets they’ve always been ($600M in direct annual benefits to the entire country). Wild horses are the best natural wildfire mitigators this country has, isn’t it time we allow nature to work FOR US instead of using federal funds to constantly try and control and work against what nature has to offer us? No Foals = No Future For Wild Horses At $72,000/Horse (for their 15 years of prime grazing of wildfire fuels) the 65,000 wild equines being warehoused on private lands COULD BE WORTH —$4.68 BILLION to our country over the next 15 years ($312 million a year in benefits received just from rewilding our horses in BLM holding facilities). It is literally misuse of an American natural resource to continue to treat our horses like liabilities needing to be controlled, instead of allowing them to do the work Mother Nature created them for that would save Americans $600+ Million Annually!
