On January 8, 2024 my veterinarian presented Librela as an option to NSAID’s for my 13 year old dog’s mild osteoarthritis. I was told by the attending veterinarian and the clinic manager that “according to Zoetis Sales Representatives there are no side effects except for injection site soreness”. I allowed my dog to be treated with Librela, and she began presenting with serious adverse reactions within 36 hours. Reactions included: increased thirst, increased panting, confusion/cognitive decline, loss of bowel and bladder control, motor dysfunction (head tilt, awkward gait, knuckling, rear end weakness), nystagmus, seizure, and ataxia/paralysis. The vet didn’t know how to treat the symptoms. On January 24, 2024 we made the heartbreaking decision to end her suffering. She died roughly two weeks post administration of one Librela injection. My veterinarian did file and adverse reaction report with Zoetis and I filed one with Zoetis and the FDA as well
