I have been favoring a ban of mercury amalgam fillings in the US for a long time now. It is past due time for us stop allowing the poisoning of the citizens by food retailers and the medical/dental system for profit. I personally have suffered greatly from mercury being placed in my teeth without informed consent, long after the dental profession knew how dangerous it is. I have also suffered greatly from root canal caused chronic infections requiring tooth extraction and a couple different oral surgeries with bone transplants in my jaw. Needless to say I avoid going to a dentist, sometimes for more than a decade at a time.
