Summary: The commenter, a private individual from New Jersey, expresses personal concerns regarding the health risks of mercury in dental fillings. They argue that mercury exposure contributes to toxic burdens on the body and may be linked to neurological issues like dementia.
Glen Rock, New Jersey - I unknowingly got amalgam fillings as a kid and now in middle age I feel that I have been exposed to so many toxins in my life (pesticides, vaccines which also contain mercury, and environmental contaminants) that constant exposure to mercury via my my mouth just adds to the burden of my detoxing my body must do. Both my parents also had mercury fillings when I was in utero, so that also probably affected my health, as mercury has the ability to cross the placenta that protects the baby. Finally, after 50 years of mercury poisoning, I can't help but think that my mother's dementia is related to all the toxins she was exposed to in her life, and that her mercury fillings (adjacent to the brain) have taken a toll on her mental abilities.
