I have to pay out of pocket for triptans because my insurance only covers the arbitrary 9 but I have more than 15 migraines monthly.
The continued climate change leading to erratic weather and increased pollution vis a vis pollen (joint feedback loop) is going to increase the amount of migraine sufferers, the amount of migraine episodes and the intensity of migraines.
1 out of 2 people in metropolitan areas worldwide are expected to have environmental allergies of which migraines are a large symptomatic feature. The loss of work days from migraines and allergies, respectively, is staggering.
This is a slowly developing public health emergency, with economic consequences, that we can get out in front of by making generic triptans OTC as is the case in most countries.
