Summary: The commenter supports making Sumatriptan available over-the-counter to ensure easier access to treatment for migraine sufferers. They argue that current prescription requirements create barriers for those without diagnoses and cause unnecessary anxiety regarding health insurance coverage.
For all the reasons elaborated by Morris Maizels in their comment, I support making Sumatriptan available OTC. As Maizels points out, far too many migraineurs go years or even lifetimes without a diagnosis much less treatment, and the effects of these delays can be disastrous for the individual and for society. I would like to add that I constantly live in fear that I will lose access to health insurance and, thus, to a sumatriptan Rx. What a ridiculous yet really real fear that no migraineur should have to lose sleep over.
