Summary: An individual driver expresses concern over the dangers of bright LED headlights and advocates for stricter regulations, including punishments for aftermarket installations and mandatory brightness checks during inspections.
The modern bright LED headlights are absurd and dangerous. I make an early morning commute on the Blue Ridge Parkway every morning, and I dread every single car that comes around the corner. I get consistently blinded while driving on the highway at night. Headlight laws need to be reevaluated. There need to be punishments for installing aftermarket LED headlights with uncontrolled spread patterns and auto manufacturers need to tone down the brightness of their own OEM headlights. Headlight levels need to be checked during yearly inspections. I am a young person and have to deal with multiple instances of getting dazzled and blinded constantly while driving, I can't even imagine what it's like for older people.
