Summary: An individual is requesting that the FDA submit a report to Congress regarding the impacts of LED flashing lights on vehicles. The commenter argues for the implementation of limits on the radiance, luminance, and quantity of these lights due to safety concerns.
I was driving west when a small firetruck came towards me with a wall of red flashing strobe lights on the front of the vehicle. It literally looked like the firetruck was on fire. I was forced to close my eyes and look away and the experience was scary as hell. The FDA MUST submit a report to Congress on the impacts of LED flashing lights on vehicles and recommend limits on radiance and/or luminance and the number of flashing lights that can be used. It is beyond insane that cities have installed LED flashing lights with no limits on intensity, quantity, or flashing characteristics.
