Blinding LED headlights on stock new vehicles (even in low beam mode!) are a dangerous menace to drivers on the road today. I have a late night commute twice a week and I've had or witnessed several near-misses on the roads because of the exaggerated contrast created by these lights. Pedestrians, cyclists & road hazards literally disappear in the shadows only to seemingly pop-up in front of the vehicle at the last millisecond. The whole sidewall of one of our vehicles had to be replaced because it was scraped up by a clump of brush on a highway which was completely hidden in the shadows created by blinding LED contrast by oncoming traffic on the other side of Interstate 270. My family was in the car and I could not keep them safe, we could easily have all been killed if I had hit the clump more directly. While light aiming is an issue, it is by far the blinding intensity of the lights causing the issue. My late-night commute went from a relaxing pod-cast listening me-time activity to a harrowing, curse-inducing hellscape over the last 3 years, as these new cars consistently rolled off the lot. Please do not dismiss this. Please drive on these roads and see for yourself the menace that has been inadvertently created. Please regulate intensity and direction of these bulbs. Please look at accident data ion the context of time of night and headlight involvement. Please help the industry develop headlight replacement alternatives that can replace and rollback the problem - force a recall. Please spend some time reading the testimony of other drivers who are concerned about this issue.
