On thanksgiving this year, I took the back roads back home to avoid interstate traffic. It was the most terrifying drive of my life. Heavy rain in combination with blinding headlights reduced my visibility to almost zero. There were moments I couldn't see any road markers at all. My body was extremely tense the whole time and when I finally got home I could do nothing but cry.
Visibility was perfectly fine as soon as there weren't any cars. I have excellent vision, so that was not the issue. This is getting completely out of hand! I fear one day there will be a pedestrian or animal in the road that will be obscured by these headlights and I won't have time to react.
I can't even imagine how dire it is for those without adequate night time vision.
It's especially bad for those who drive low cars as well. Lifted trucks and large SUVs have their lights so high up that they go directly into my eyes every time. Even if they happen to not have their brights on! Regulations NEED to account for this, as well as hills and uneven roads. The concept of having your lights angle adjusted is not helpful for hills, bumps, and height of the vehicle.
