6/29/26 Zorbium should not be used at all. My 6 year old, 10lb male cat received zorbium on 6/12/26 for uti/bladder pain/FIC flare up. It is not even for that!!! I was not warned of the risks of the drug. I did ha e to sign a paper saying it was ok since they were also going to catheter him. We were teying toamage his pain with gabapentin and prazosin. I knew of oral buprenorphine, but i didn’t know of this and my vet that day told me it was the same thing. He failed to mention side effects of the drug until after it had already been given and i went to pick him up. It said on the take hime paper if there was hyperactivity or euphoria to wash it off with dawn and warm water. That was the only warning i received and it was AFTER my cat had been given the medicine. I should've inquired more about the drug. I assumed i wouldve been informed if there was a reason to worry. When I got him home he didn't sleep for 3 days. His eyes stayed open constantly and he was saucer-eyed. He stared at the walls for days. When he tried to rest he couldn't. He stayed saucer-eyed (dilated eyes to the max) for a whole week at least. He finally started to close his eyes when I would rub his head and cheeks after day 3. I had tried to wash the medicine off his head the day after I brought him home twice. By then he'd absorbed it and it was too late. It was completely awful watching him go through that and wondering how he must be feeling miserable and unable to sleep so he could heal. One of my vets tried to tell me what was happening wasn't a reaction, but it most certainly was! I will never allow any of my pets to have this knowingly or sign off for them to have it. There are Definitely safer ways to give a cat pain relief! Why my vet doesn't offer that other than gabapentin is beyond me and completely unacceptable. If I eventually have to find another vet then I will. No baby should have to go through any of that. He wasn't in pain for a few days which is good but the drug stays in the system much longer and its effects can be damaging and sometimes be permanent. Why would anyone ever allow this drug to be used when the risks and death rates are so high. So far my boy has come out of it mostly okay, but I feel he is still not quite back to normal and it has been over two weeks. STOP THE USE OF ZORBIUM NOW!! THE RISK FAR OUTWEIGHS THE ONE BENEFIT IT GIVES!
