As a physician for over 34 years and intimately involved with the science of medicine and the need to be a guardian of care on behalf of my community and the community at large, I am strongly against this petition. Mifepristone is not a safe drug in the absence of safety regulations. Any medication I have used in my three decades of practice must be carefully evaluated for the good of the patient. Recent evidence reveals that there are significant side effects in up to 10% of recipients of this drug. We must not compromise the safety of our patients.
