I am a physician board certified in Family Medicine. I see pregnant women often in my practice. I have personally worked with patients who wished to continue their pregnancy who were given the abortion pill by their partner. Women deserve quality medical treatment. This involves a face-to-face visit with a physician. I have personally worked with women who were sex trafficked, who are at a very high risk of being given the abortion pill surreptitiously. Women deserve good medical treatment, not a dangerous medication that allows their trafficker to continue to abuse them. This involves a face-to-face visit with a physician. I have personally seen patients with a positive pregnancy test who have an ectopic pregnancy. Women deserve to have medical treatment with the highest standard of care. This involves a face-to-face visit with a physician and an ultrasound. Two recent studies show that one out of nine women experience serious adverse effects from taking the abortion pill. Women deserve a face-to-face visit with a physician who explains the risks and warning signs. I urge that we have laws and regulations that protect women. Loosening these will only lead to serious harm and death for innocent women.
