My son, age 11, was diagnosed type 1 diabetic at age 2. He has been using Levemir for many years and it would be an extreme hardship if he could no longer use it, as alternatives such as Tresiba (causes bloody noses and is too long acting) and Lantus (causes frightening and deadly lows) are not fit for him. He has used a pump in the past and if he could not get Levemir, he could go back to it, but at only age 11 his body still does not have adequate mass to comfortably wear a pump and his Dexcom continuous glucose monitor at the same time, and changing the pump every few days wore him down quite rapidly. He does quite well with Levemir (detemir), and we are asking that it be cleared for manufacturing.
