Summary: A patient representative argues that the current use of the Narxscore algorithm is unethical because it lacks transparency and oversight for patients. They support the action of monitoring Narxscore as a medical software device and demanding that patients have access to their scores and the ability to correct inaccuracies.
It is unfair and unethical to have a company determine a patient‘s narcotic score when patients themselves are unable to check the algorithm for its assessments with no way to address conclusions that may be inaccurate. Patients must have the right to know their Narxscore, know how the score was determined, and have a way to correct wrong conclusions. Drs and others use this score against patients. Narxscore is used to develop a description of drug usage and determine drug habits without oversight. This is a violation of our rights as pain patients! Please monitor Narxscore as a medical software device and allow patients to have access to their score.
