Summary: A board-certified OB/GYN and member of ACOG opposes the citizen petition. The commenter argues that the current unsupervised use of mifepristone is a political rather than scientific decision and urges the FDA to reinstate pre-2016 REMS requirements.
Regarding FDA-2025-P-0377-0001 As a board certified Ob/Gyn and a member of ACOG, I must oppose this citizen petition and urge the agency to instead reinstate the pre-2016 REMS (restricting it to 7 weeks of pregnancy, requiring in person visits before and after taking mifepristone, requiring reporting of all adverse events rather than just deaths, and requiring the involvement of a physician). The unsupervised use of mefipristone, and the different standard it is being held to, is a political, and not a scientific, decision.
