Summary: The commenter, a patient who has benefited from physician-supervised peptide therapy, opposes the potential restriction of access to compounded peptide therapies. They argue that such restrictions could limit individualized treatment options and potentially drive patients toward unregulated sources.
I am submitting this comment as a patient whose life has been positively impacted by physician supervised peptide therapy. As a woman in my 50s, I struggled with weight gain, low energy, inflammation, and the metabolic changes that came with perimenopause. Despite eating well and trying to stay active, I felt like my body was no longer responding the way it once had. It was frustrating and discouraging. After doing extensive research, I chose to work with a physician supervised telehealth practice that uses compounded peptide therapies from licensed pharmacies. This decision has had a profound impact on my health. I have lost over 30 pounds, have more energy, less inflammation, better control over my appetite, and an overall improved quality of life. More importantly, I feel like I have my health back. I am concerned about restricting access to compounded peptide therapies or adding additional peptides to lists that would limit physician supervised treatment options. Every patient is different, and healthcare providers should be able to make individualized decisions based on a patient’s unique medical needs and the available scientific evidence. Patient safety should always come first. I support strong quality standards, appropriate oversight, and evidence based regulation. However, restricting access to physician supervised compounded therapies may leave many patients with fewer legitimate options and could unintentionally drive some people toward unregulated sources, which may increase risk rather than reduce it. Please consider the experiences of patients like me as you evaluate future access to compounded peptide therapies. These treatments have made a meaningful difference in my life, and I hope other patients will continue to have the opportunity to work with their healthcare providers to determine what is appropriate for them. Thank you for your time and consideration.
