Summary: The commenter, a patient with epilepsy, shares a personal story of mistreatment by the conventional medical system and advocates for patient rights to choose alternative care options. They support the action as a means to provide access to alternative treatments that have improved their quality of life.
One neurologist even met me after hours in a back parking lot to deliver a diagnosis, which I accepted at the time as normal. I went on to have multiple grand mal seizures, resulting in several surgeries. One neurologist suggested, and I quote, that we “scoop a portion of my brain out to evaluate what the issue is.”
We need better care for people living with epilepsy.
Eventually, I found a neurologist willing to actually discuss my treatment options with me. I am now on the right medications, supplemented with GLPs, and my seizures — once daily tonic-clonic episodes — have been reduced to roughly once every other week.
I am asking Congress to protect our right, as patients, to choose our own care. I am a clear example of someone mistreated by the conventional medical system, and I believe we need access to alternative options — like Ellie MD, which has changed my life and saved my marriage.
