Summary: The commenter, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, supports the FDA's consideration of policies that preserve access to individualized compounded medications. They argue that personalized treatments are important for patients whose needs are not met by commercially available options.
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I’ve seen firsthand that healthcare is never one-size-fits-all. Personalized treatment plans matter because every patient has different medical needs, goals, and responses to therapy.
Peptide therapy has had a meaningful impact on my own health journey and has also given many people I work with another option to discuss with their licensed healthcare provider. For some patients, individualized compounded medications can make treatment more accessible when commercially available options don’t meet their needs.
I encourage the FDA to consider policies that preserve safe, appropriate access to individualized treatment through qualified compounding pharmacies while continuing to prioritize patient safety, quality standards, and oversight. Patients and their healthcare providers should be able to make treatment decisions together based on individual circumstances.
Thank you for considering the voices and experiences of patients and healthcare professionals.
