Summary: The commenter, identifying as a consumer and taxpayer, supports the transition to non-animal testing methodologies. They urge the FDA to establish a clear timeline to phase out animal testing by the end of fiscal year 2027.
Effective and humane drug development relies on FDA issuance of clear and time-bound expedited transition to scientifically validated to animal testing during drug development. I am a consumer both helped by new drugs and deeply transformed by the love of dogs and a pet rat. I would sacrifice the former for the loving animals. Humans, especially Americans are so focused on whether we can do something we fail to ask if we should be doing it. In the case of animal sacrifice the answer is closer and closer to absolutely not. As a tax payer and drug consumer I rely on and frankly demand FDA vigorously work to wind down animal testing in months, by end of fiscal 2027 at the latest. Thank you for your attention.
