Summary: The commenter supports the petition by arguing that foods containing animal products should be clearly labeled as "contains animal ingredients." They state that such labeling is necessary for individuals with life-threatening allergies, health concerns, and specific ethical or religious beliefs.
If food can be labeled as vegan and/or plant-based, foods that are not vegan nor plant-based should be labeled as "contains animal ingredients". Life-threatening allergies such as alpha-gal syndrome can be triggered by even trace amounts of animal-derived ingredients. Consumers may also have other allergies, health concerns, or closely held ethical or religious beliefs that prohibit their consumption of foods that contain animal-derived ingredients. Vegans should not have to use their smart phone data to look up every questionable ingredient when they are reading labels. Please make it easier for everyone to be able to make a choice whether to buy and consume or not to buy and consume. Thank you.
