Summary: An individual with Alpha Gal Syndrome is requesting that the government mandate clear labeling of ingredients in medications, specifically highlighting the danger of mammal, dairy, or gelatin components. They argue that such labeling would prevent life-threatening allergic reactions and reduce healthcare costs.
I have recently been diagnosed with Alpha Gal Syndrome and so has my mother. Clear ingredients need to be mandated with our medications on ingredients. Any mammal, diary or gelatin is a major threat to our health in medications we need to sustain life. Why is this a hard statement to process or be mandated. What about our children that need particular medications that are free of these ingredients. Imagine the cost that would be cut to our healthcare system along with consumers wallets if our Pharmacies had a system that these allergies could be listed and flagged when medication was filled. Anaphlaxis is not a minor concern when taking medication.
