Summary: An individual with an Alpha gal allergy argues that the proposed action to require source labeling for ingredients in medicines and food is necessary for safety. They explain that current lack of transparency makes it difficult to avoid life-threatening anaphylactic reactions when seeking treatment.
Ingredients in both medicines and food must be labeled as to their source. This would make the lives of Alpha gal people so much easier. We currently cannot find medication to treat symptoms because the medicine doesn't tell whether it has something in it that will make the reaction worse. It can take up to two weeks to receive a response from a manufacturer, and even then there is sometimes no answer or no way for them to determine. People should be able to know what they're consuming. The difference for us is one of having an anaphylactic seizure and possibly dying.
