Summary: An individual with an Alpha-Gal allergy is requesting that food, supplements, and drugs clearly label ingredients as plant or animal sourced. They argue that this transparency is necessary for consumers to make informed health choices and express a desire for more plant-based alternatives for medications like Levothyroxine.
I have Alpha-Gal and need to know if some ingredients within food, supplements, and drugs are derived from plant or animal source. Natural Flavors are added to several foods and it seems this is often animal sourced, which causes a negative reaction(s). Natural Flavors, Magnesium stearate, Glycerin, and Gelatin, along with any other animal sourced ingredient should be listed as animal sourced or plant sourced so that consumers can make informed choices for their health. It would also be nice to have a readily available option of Levothyroxine and pain medication where plant sourced ingredients replace the animal sourced ingredients.
