The compounded version of oral buprenorphine (0.5mg/ml) suspension is critical for our feline patients, especially those with urinary obstruction that are currently being treated in hospital. The palatability of the injectable buprenorphine that can be given orally is poor and patients can become very aggressive with PO administration of this drug. The compounded version is stronger, which decreased the volume of medication to be administered and flavored which increased patient compliance. We need this drug for office use, we are emergency only and treat many blocked cats (4-10) weekly and this is a medication that saves lives. Thank you for your consideration.
