Summary: A veterinary professional (implied by the mention of "patients" and "owners") argues in favor of keeping Doxycycline on the list of bulk drug substances for compounding. They state that having it available as a compounded, flavored medication improves patient compliance and allows for immediate treatment.
It is imperative that we continue to have access to Doxycycline. We have many patients that are very difficult to give medication to and having that compounded in an enticing flavor helps owners give their pets less pills with ease compared to several non flavored that they are more likely not to take. Having the medication on hand allows us to treat the patient immediately rather than waiting for the medication to come in.
