The FDA, approximately 1 week ago, made a sweeping change to the classification of a large group of PEPTIDES - which are specific amino acid (protein) sequences that our human bodies (and nature) use as signals to create cellular actions. Much like bioidentical hormones, which are NOT FDA “approved,” peptides have been used in ever growing amounts across the country over the past decade to treat and heal patients where pharma cannot, where synthetic/manufactured drug side effects cannot be tolerated, or drugs even afforded. Furthermore, cognitive, performance and longevity peptides give options for those seeking natural and safe methods to enhance productivity or recovery.

Semax like to demand that the FDA RECONSIDER and RETRACT its unsupported claim that because these products “may or may not cause harm,” they must be removed from the population. Plenty of other products that absolutely demonstrate harm are not only prescribed, but bought over the counter (aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, bisphosphonates, monoclonal antibodies, synthetic hormones, sugar/high fructose corn syrup, tobacco, alcohol). The larger question and danger is, what else will they ban/take away?

The removal of these helpful and advantageous products is without merit, and taking away patient and physician CHOICE. We can CHOOSE to fight disease and decline with means other than the harmful medications they push. We have the RIGHT to have options that do not harm us, and work via the pathways our bodies already use.
