Summary: An individual commenter supports the proposed action by urging the FDA to seek greater authority from Congress to address antibiotic resistance and public health risks associated with veterinary drugs in food animals.
This is a very important issue for me. The use of veterinary drugs in food animals can have deadly unintended side effects. Now is the time to address the unintended consequences of animal drugs particularly antibiotic resistance. The FDA should ask Congress for greater authority to address antibiotic resistance as part of ADUFA reauthorization including the ability to require label changes when specific uses create a public health risk.
