Comment on FR Doc # 2026-12559

FIDO AllianceSupportTrade association
Summary: The FIDO Alliance supports the proposed amendments to the FAR but argues that the current language is insufficient to address modern phishing threats. They recommend updating the FAR to explicitly require phishing-resistant authentication (such as FIDO standards) for contractors accessing Federal information systems or CUI, aligning it with OMB M-22-09.
The Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance appreciates the opportunity to provide input to the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB); Department of Defense (DoD); General Services Administration (GSA); and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on its proposed amendments (FAR Case 2026-001) to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Our comments are attached. We appreciate the government’s considerations of our comments and suggestions. We would welcome the opportunity to provide the Council with technical input on authenticator standards as this rule moves toward a final version. Should you have any questions on our submission – or would like to learn more about FIDO standards and certification programs – please reach out to our Executive Director, Andrew Shikiar, at andrew@fidoalliance.org, or our policy advisor, Jeremy Grant, at jagrant@venable.com.
