As a homeowner located in Vandenberg Village, I am concerned about the damage to my home caused by an increase in SpaceX launches. I am also concerned about the proposal to launch "heavier" rockets from VSFB. Every time a rocket is launched, my windows rattle and the pictures on the wall are shaken askew as if a small earthquake had occurred. I am concerned about damage to concrete slab foundation that I do not see as it is covered up by flooring. I realize that space exploration is not going to stop. However, SpaceX is primarily concerned with launching communication satellites into orbit that are central to its commercial goals. As an corporation valued at around one trillion dollars, SpaceX should be held responsible for collateral damage. Specifically, SpaceX should fund repairs to structural damage caused by its rocket launches. The process for filing a claim should be easy and transparent. The damaged party should not have to face litigation expense to pursue a claim. It should be recognized that damage can be caused by the cumulative effect of multiple launches over a period of time. Further, since SpaceX is minimally involved in "national security," it should not be allowed to sidestep California's environmental protection laws by ignoring State law, the Coastal Commission orders and the public's concern for impact on wildlife. The Lompoc Valley is a desirable place to live and it should not be compromised for the sake of SpaceX making money without compensation to residents, human and wild alike.
