Summary: The commenter requests that the Airworthiness Directive include a specific list of affected Fuel Pump Serial Numbers to ensure all units are captured. They argue that the current method of providing lists to individual operators via email is insufficient for an AD requirement.
This AD should contain a list of affected Fuel Pump Serial Numbers. These pumps can be offered as exchange units, purchased as Serviceable Used Material or provided with lease engines in situations where full shop visit history may not be available. The screws can only be replaced in a workshop environment. As such the OEM should be able to advise an affected range of serial numbers that have had the thrust bearing screws replaced. At this stage, the OEM is providing lists to individual operators of affected fuel pump serial numbers that they currently own only. This correspondence is via email and is not appropriate for an AD requirement. The inclusion of a complete affected range of serial numbers in the AD (or associated SB's) will ensure all affected units are captured by operators. A list of Fuel pumps manufactured prior 01 January 2023 would be a good starting point.
