On a daily basis, largescale factory farms emit 30 to 55 times the ammonia that the EPA considers a regulatory limit on other industries. Ammonia is a major precursor gas to PM2.5 which is the primary cause of environmental health risks in the U.S. The EPA refuses to regulate these agricultural emissions or even monitor them. It is imperative that non-governmental researchers be able to operate airborne monitoring devices to alert the public to the respiratory dangers of these ammonia emissions. Allowing these monitoring devices will not affect the operations of the factory farms. They will only shed light on what the potential dangers of industrial animal agriculture's environmental harms. Should the FAA pass this rule, it will be complicit with the current administration's attempt to hide this information.
