Summary: An individual farmer or interested party supports the proposed rulemaking to allow farmers to operate drones for spraying. They argue that drones offer time and cost savings, provide faster service than third-party companies, and improve safety by keeping farmers further away from toxic chemicals.
I feel that this is a great idea and can help farmers out in the long run with the amount of time that it takes to spray their fields as well as the money it may take to spray fertilizer as well. If we sort of bend the rules a little bit because these drones do not go as high as planes, this can help farmers move on faster than waiting for spraying companies to come out and spray the farmers fields. Another key benefit is that the drones keep the toxic chemicals away from the farmers because the drone is controlled by a remote control and is far away from the farmer, compared to usual sprayers which the farmer would be right next to the chemicals. Overall I feel this is a good idea and I hope to see this be implemented in the future so that farmers can operate their own drones.
