I have been involved in model airplanes for years and before me my father was involved in the hobby. In this time rules and regulations set by the ama make for a safe environment and allow the freedom to make the hobby enjoyable and help foster creativity and innovation. This country has defined itself in the past as people that are always improving, tinkering, and innovating through its interests. Regulating these interests through the possible ban of fpv flight, and commercializing money tied to this hobby will set this innovation and technology back years. In recent years the innovation and development of the products used in model aircraft has made getting into the hobby much cheaper and more accessible. This is allowing a younger generation of people to get involved. Growing up, I designed and scratch built model planes which had me spending time studying aeronotics, math to calculate wing loading cg and thrust, engineering, and electronics. There are far worse things a young person can spend their time on. These regulations Negatively effect the technology and cost of the hobby making it harder for youth to be involved. I ask that you not pass these regulations and leave controll of our past time to an established orginization dealing solely with this industry and hobby. Leave control of this to the ama which has established connections, experience and personal ties to something we cherish. Thank you.
