Summary: A student pilot supports the petition for a 24-month extension of Exemption No. 1637. The commenter argues that the extension is necessary to provide regulatory clarity and prevent pilots from becoming unintentionally noncompliant during the transition to updated FAA regulations.
I agree with the petition made by the National Business Aviation Association. Requesting a 24-month extension of the Exemption No.1637 until the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) completes all of the updates to 14 CFR Part 91, is a great decision. I am a student pilot, and I support this petition because I think it is important to maintain stability and prevent confusion. A lot of pilots rely on the current exemption. Without the exemption, it could cause pilots to be unintentionally noncompliant. So as someone who is pursuing a career in aviation, I believe it is very important for regulations to be clear and concise before punishing pilots for it. I feel that allowing the FAA more time to make the regulation clear, so that aviators can safely and efficiently transition, would be beneficial. Overall, accepting this extension supports efficiency and safety. I strongly stand behind the approval of this petition.
