I am submitting this comment regarding the NBAA petition to extend Exemption No. 1637.
As a student pilot, I am taught that consistent maintenance and inspection standards are critical to safety. The exemption has a long history of safe use; however, I believe it is important to ensure that alternative inspection programs provide an equal level of safety as the current standard requirements.
I do support a limited extension, provided that the FAA enforces proper oversight and continues working toward an updated regulation that includes effective practices that are consistent.
