I urge EPA to deny the proposed registration allowing over-the-top spraying of topramezone on genetically engineered cotton. Topramezone is linked to thyroid issues, liver damage, and pancreatic degeneration. It is also highly mobile in soil, potentially harming important soil-dwelling organisms like earthworms, and has a high risk of leaching into groundwater and harming aquatic ecosystems. The EU has indicated a high potential for groundwater exposure above the parametric drinking water limit, which raises concerns about long-term exposure through drinking water. Expanding the use of this synthetic herbicide for over-the-top spraying on topramezone-tolerant GMO cotton will increase the use of this chemical by millions of pounds annually. Reject this toxic pesticide!
