Summary: Dr. Mark Zhen, a resident of Illinois, opposes the proposed rule to eliminate the EEO-1 reporting requirement. He argues that removing this requirement would hide discrimination against Asian Americans and make it harder to address the "bamboo ceiling" in corporate leadership.
My name is Dr. Mark Zhen. I am a resident of Illinois. I write to oppose Proposed Rule RIN 3046-AB37. Asian Americans like me face a heavy bamboo ceiling. The EEO-1 Report provides critical data showing how the high percentage of Asian American professionals contrasts with the low percentage of Asian American executives. If the EEOC gets rid of the requirement to file EEO-1 reports, companies will discriminate against Asian Americans with impunity, knowing their actions will remain hidden. How can I trust an administration whose EEOC lets companies discriminate against AsAms? If the EEOC gets rid of the EEO-1 report, this will be a key consideration when I vote for president in 2028.
