As a professional in the field of educational equity writing strictly in my personal capacity, I strongly urge the Department of Education to reject the proposed wholesale rescission of 34 CFR Part 270. In my direct work, I see how Equity Assistance Centers (EACs) provide indispensable technical assistance to school districts and state agencies navigating complex issues of race, sex, national origin, and religious equity under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Eliminating these regulations in their entirety without a concrete, funded replacement creates an unnecessary policy vacuum—stripping away essential provider qualification standards, reporting mechanisms, and accountability safeguards that communities rely on to ensure equal educational opportunity. Rather than a full repeal that risks disrupting service continuity and disconnecting the program from its statutory purpose, the Department should pursue targeted, evidence-based amendments to modernize specific provisions while preserving the core regulatory structures that keep EAC support effective.
