Summary: The commenter supports the rescission of the Equity Assistance Center Program regulations, arguing that the program has overstepped its original purpose by promoting DEI and other ideologies. They advocate for a significant reduction in the Department of Education's role, suggesting it should focus only on core academic skills and parent communication.
The U.S. Department of Education is currently accepting public comments on a proposed rule that would rescind the regulations governing the Equity Assistance Center (EAC) Program, a program that was originally birthed out of an effort to promote desegregation, but has increasingly promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Critical Race Theory (CRT), social-emotional learning (SEL), gender ideology, and other initiatives far beyond its original purpose. Education is reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and trade skills. As designed, our federal government has zero right to to touch our schools but they offer money with strings attached as if that was ok. The entire DOEd must be reduced to nothing but the sponsor of a summer meeting where principals from all over can attend and present how they have advanced teaching reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and trade skills in their schools and how they communicate better with parents to get their children through school successfully.
